YouTellYours is based on the realisation that the techniques of storytelling for books and plays and films, sub plots, story arcs and the like… aren’t as immediately relevant to spoken word storytelling. Lynn first started teaching classes in the Sidewalk Studio Theatre in Burbank and now, using the same techniques and exercises, we’ve added an online course so that no matter where you live, you can learn to tell your story, and get yourself heard, without notes, props or the dreaded Powerpoint.

At YouTellYours we believe that storytelling is an action that needs to be practiced. Our courses don’t dwell on convoluted theories of story.  In our classes in Burbank California or online we get people storytelling right from the start. I think storytelling is like riding a bike, or learning to speak a new language - it’s only be trying, do you truly understand the challenge, and only by practising, do you get to the point where the skill becomes like a reflex, something you do almost without any conscious thought.

Ep.8 - Emma Fletcher - Performance Issues.

Episode 8 with Emma Fletcher. Often 'firsts' are uncomfortable and frankly hilarious, Emma's story is no different. Her story reminds my of a 'rule of thumb' i have: "The longer it takes me to find a silly experience funny, the funnier other people find it."

8sq-EmmaFletcher.jpg

Emma's Bio:
"Emma Fletcher – is originally from Pennsylvania. She can do the first half of any magic trick." Emma on Twitter.

Mark Tweddle hosts the YouTellYours podcast - where we share with you, stories from our storytelling classes.

YouTellYours.com is Lynn Ferguson’s vehicle to teach her authentic storytelling techniques. Once or twice a month we have a storytelling event in Burbank, California where YouTellYours students tell their stories in front of a live, theatre audience - without notes or props.

From the beginning Mark has been recording these events, mainly for fun and for posterity…  but as he also runs QuirkyBranding.com, helping small to medium sized companies with their video and digital marketing, he couldn’t not share this great content.  After all it’s always the quirky stuff that get shared!
